Psychologists distinguish two ways to determine a person's state of behavior: physiognomy and psychology of gestures. Russian programmers continued this list - to help psychologists came to the staff of the famous MEPhI, who developed an algorithm that recognizes deviations in the behavior of people on the gait.

As a source of information, the algorithm uses conventional video recording. The main task is to recognize complex images in a number of parameters: the constitution, the manner of walking and dressing. At the same time, according to the project manager Vadim Danshin, an ordinary smartphone will cope with the calculations.

Scientists expect that the technique will find application in security systems in places of large concentrations of people, especially at railway stations and airports, where video surveillance cameras are installed. It is possible that she will be interested in large shopping centers to analyze the behavior of service personnel and customers. Another area of ​​application of the algorithm is virtual reality.
