More than once during the video communication session on
Skype we paid attention to the view of our interlocutor on the other side of
the screen, which is turned somewhere down. The most interesting, our
interlocutor sees about the same picture. The reason is that we prefer not to
look at the camera, but on the screen.
As it turned out, in addition to millions of Skype users,
television broadcasters are also faced with a similar problem, who are
simultaneously forced to maintain visual contact with the audience and to
pronounce the text.
Correct the "picture" took the experts Skoltekh,
who developed a special algorithm, correcting the view of a person during video
broadcast.
The system developed by them is based on the principles of
training a computer neural network. At the first stage, a special algorithm
localizes the eye area, calculating a characteristic set of points. The
received information, including the angle of the necessary correction of the
view, enters the neural network, where the value of the deformation is
calculated in such a way that an illusion of a "direct" view arises.
According to the developers, their system is able to
"redirect" the view to any angle. After completion, this technology
will find application, both in video communication, and in processing of photo
and film production
